The Department of Energy (DOE) is developing a Health Surveillance System (HSS) to monitor significant causes of morbidity and death among active DOE contractor employees. Development of the HSS focuses on enhancing the DOE's ability to monitor the health of its workers and provide an early warning of threats to workers' health. This project includes the use of routinely collected Occupational Medicine Clinic data from all half time or greater Bookhaven National Laboratory employees. The employee population is approximately 3,200.
